I’ve been spending loads of time mountain biking. Somehow, it’s taken over from road riding as my favorite way to spend time on two wheels. That’s probably because I feel like I’m getting better at it so it’s more rewarding. Mountain biking skill progression seems to come a little faster than road riding.
The part I always forget is that to go down, one must go up. Oddly enough, this part never seems to get easier, so never quite seems to follow the learning curve of mountain biking. Whether it’s Old Buck on Seymour or the nasty climb up Mt. Fromme – it’s all hard. I know I need the cardio so I try not to complain too much, but always being the last one up the climb gets tedious after a while. Luckily the reward of the trail at the end makes the climb worth it.
